Southwest lies the city of Cicero, known for its Czech and Italian roots. Further south, suburban towns like Evergreen Park, Hometown, and Oak Lawn retain a blue-collar vibe.

The southern suburbs are home to cities like Calumet City, Lansing, and University Park which border Indiana.
