Situated in central Illinois, McLean County is home to over 170,000 residents. The county seat and largest city is Bloomington, located at the intersection of U.S. Route 51 and Interstate 55. With two major colleges, Illinois Wesleyan University and Illinois State University, Bloomington is often called the "Education City." The downtown area boasts cultural attractions like the McLean County Museum of History along with shops, restaurants and nightlife.

To the north, the town of Normal provides a quieter suburban feel and is anchored by Illinois State University. As the name suggests, the town was named after Illinois State Normal University, founded in the 1800s to train teachers. Normal makes an ideal home base for outdoor recreation at nearby Constitution Trail and neighborhood parks.

The smaller towns of McLean County showcase the area's agricultural roots and tight-knit farming communities. Lexington, Chenoa, Danvers, and Carlock each have populations under 2,000 but maintain vibrant main street corridors.
