Nestled in the Anthracite Coal Region of Pennsylvania, Schuylkill County is home to small towns with deep roots in coal mining history. Though coal mining has declined, these communities have endured and retained their unique identities.

The county seat and most populous city is Pottsville, with a population of around 14,000 residents. Pottsville served as an early hub for anthracite coal mining and shipping.
