Norwalk is a city located in the county of Los Angeles in the U.S. state of California. Its population at the 2010 census was 105,549. After 10 years in 2020 city had an estimated population of 102,635 inhabitants.

The city was created 67 years ago in 1956.

The area that is now Norwalk was originally home to the Tongva Native American people. Spanish settlers arrived in the late 1700s and established large ranchos for cattle grazing. In the 1870s, the railroad came through the area and the town of Norwalk was founded.

Norwalk was incorporated as a city in 1957. Its early economy was based on dairy farming and agriculture.
