Largo is a city located in the county of Pinellas in the U.S. state of Florida. Its population at the 2010 census was 77,648 and a population density of 1,559 people per km². After 10 years in 2020 city had an estimated population of 84,681 inhabitants.
The city was created 120 years ago in 1905.
Largo is the third largest city in Pinellas County, Florida, United States, as well as the fourth largest in the Tampa Bay area. As of the 2010 Census, the city had a population of 77,648, up from 69,371 in 2000. Largo was first incorporated in 1905.
Largo was first incorporated in 1905. It was named after the lariope tree, also known as the "largo" tree; it was said to be a favorite of one of the early settlers. Largo was reincorporated on December 1, 1975.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 34.6 square miles (89 km2), of which 34.0 square miles (88 km2) is land and 0.6 square miles (1.5 km2) (1.87%) is water.
Today's Largo is a diverse community that offers something for everyone. Located just off I-275 and near St. Petersburg, Tampa and Clearwater, it's easy to access all that Florida has to offer.
Largo is known for its beautiful parks, including Central Park and Veterans Memorial Park. The city also hosts an annual Suncoast Air Show every March and April, which features some of the world's best aerobatic performers—including the Blue Angels!
Largo is also home to one of Florida's most beautiful beaches. With its long stretch of white sand, this beach is great for swimming or sunbathing with friends and family members—or even just watching life go on by while you enjoy some good food or drinks at one of Largo's many restaurants and bars nearby!
