Hollywood is a city located in the county of Broward in the U.S. state of Florida. Its population at the 2010 census was 140,768 and a population density of 1,769 people per km². After 10 years in 2020 city had an estimated population of 154,611 inhabitants.
The city was created 105 years ago in 1921.
Hollywood is a city located in southeastern Florida, between Fort Lauderdale and Miami along the Atlantic Coast. With a population of over 154,000, Hollywood is a major part of the Miami metropolitan area.
History
The area was originally inhabited by indigenous tribes like the Tequesta and Seminole. In the 1920s, Hollywood was established as a planned community by early developers looking to create a new “motion picture colony” in Florida.
While Hollywood never became home to major movie studios, it did grow into a thriving year-round tourist destination thanks to its beaches, resorts, and beachfront properties.
Hollywood Beach
One of Hollywood's biggest attractions is the Hollywood Beach Broadwalk, a paved beachfront promenade. The pedestrian-friendly 2.5 mile Broadwalk features shops, eateries, public art installations, and a bandshell for live music.
The adjacent Hollywood North Beach Park is popular for swimming, fishing and enjoying the ocean views.
