The city was created 63 years ago in 1962.
Coral Springs was incorporated in 1963 and developed as a planned residential community. Early promoters highlighted its family-friendly orientation and modern amenities.
Houses and parks were built first to establish the city's layout and identity. This helped attract young professionals out of nearby Fort Lauderdale seeking affordable suburban homes with good schools.
Major growth occurred from 1970 to 2000 as Coral Springs' population boomed. It evolved into a full-scale city with economic and cultural offerings beyond housing.
