Hunt County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2010 census, the population was 86,129 and a population density of 38 people per km². After 10 years in 2020 county had an estimated population of 99,807 inhabitants. Its county seat is Greenville. The county was created 178 years ago in 1845.

Hunt County is located in northeastern Texas, just east of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. It was established in 1846 from land originally belonging to Fannin County. The county was named after Memucan Hunt, Jr., the first Republic of Texas Minister to the United States.

The city of Greenville became the county seat in 1848. It was settled in 1841 and named after Maj. Thomas J. Green. Greenville later became an important cotton trading hub.
