History of Beaverton
The area that became Beaverton was originally inhabited by Native American tribes before being settled by Europeans in the early 19th century. The city itself was incorporated in 1893.
Beaverton transformed into a suburban city due to its proximity to Portland and the construction of highways like Highway 217 and 26. Rapid suburbanization took place in the second half of the 20th century.
