History
Victorville started in 1885 as a small settlement along the famous Route 66 highway. Early growth came from mining and transportation linking coastal California to the east.
During World War II, Victorville Army Airfield brought new jobs and industry. In the 1960s, Victorville began transitioning into a commuter suburb for Los Angeles residents seeking affordable housing.
