Greenwood is the largest city and county seat, with about 23,000 residents. It was founded in 1897 and has many historic homes and buildings. Uptown Greenwood offers shops, dining, arts, and the Greenwood Community Theatre.
Hodges is a small rural town with around 300 residents. It was established in 1891 along the railroad tracks and named for a railroad official. Hodges has historic buildings and churches in its downtown area.
Ninety Six is a small town that got its unique name from being 96 miles from the Cherokee village of Keowee. It has about 1,500 residents and has 18th century historic sites from Revolutionary War battles.
Ware Shoals was founded in the 1920s as a planned mill village for workers at the Ware Shoals Manufacturing Company. It has around 2,000 residents today.
