Beauregard Parish is a county located in the U.S. state of Louisiana. As of the 2010 census, the population was 35,654 and a population density of 12 people per km². After 10 years in 2020 county had an estimated population of 37,881 inhabitants. Its county seat is DeRidder. The county was created 111 years ago in 1912.
Beauregard Parish is located in southwestern Louisiana, just south of the Texas border. The parish was formed on January 1, 1913 and named after General P.G.T. Beauregard, a hero of the Civil War. The parish seat is DeRidder, which is also the largest city in Beauregard Parish.
The population of Beauregard Parish has been steadily increasing over the past few years as people move to the area for its affordable housing and scenic views. The unemployment rate in Beauregard Parish is low and there are many jobs available in industries such as healthcare and retail sales.
The area is 3,020 km² (1,174 sq mi). The parish was named for General P. G. T. Beauregard, who commanded Confederate troops at Fort Sumter in Charleston Harbor when it was attacked by Union troops in 1861.
