The city was created 133 years ago in 1892.
Meridian is the third largest city in Idaho, located in Ada County just west of Boise. With over 115,000 residents, it is one of the fastest-growing cities in Idaho.
History
Meridian was incorporated as a village in 1891 on the Oregon Short Line Railroad. Early settlers were drawn by the fertile soil for farmland.
Growth accelerated in the 1990s and 2000s as the Boise metro expanded. Affordable homes, land, and good transportation access appealed to residents. Meridian grew from 15,000 to over 95,000 between 1990 and 2015.
Today Meridian balances suburban growth with retaining its family-friendly small town feel.
