Buckner is a city located in the county of Jackson in the U.S. state of Missouri. Its population at the 2010 census was 3,076 and a population density of 664 people per km². After 10 years in 2020 city had an estimated population of 3,010 inhabitants.

Buckner is a city in Jackson County, Missouri, United States. The population was 3,076 at the 2010 census. For decades it was best known for TV and radio commercials promoting local automobile dealership Lasater Ford, run by the Lasater brothers, Wilson and Milton and later Matt Ford.
The city is named after Major Lucius E. Buckner who established the city in 1871 with his wife Nancy Ann (née Bennett) and their children after moving from nearby Richmond. He owned approximately 1/4 of what is now the city of Kansas City. He served as a general in the Confederate Army during the American Civil War and died in 1872 at age 46 from typhoid fever which he contracted while serving with General Nathan Bedford Forrest's cavalry unit during their invasion of Kentucky.
