Frisco is a city located in Collin and Denton counties in Texas, approximately 25 miles north of Dallas. With a population of around 210,000, Frisco is one of the fastest growing cities in the United States.

Humble Beginnings

Frisco began as a small farming town shortly after the railroad arrived in 1902. It was named after the St. Louis–San Francisco Railway that ran through the town.

For the first half of the 20th century, Frisco remained a sleepy rural community with a predominantly white population. By 1970, the population was still under 1,000 residents.

Growth and Change

Rapid growth in the later decades of the 20th century transformed Frisco. As Dallas' suburbs expanded northward, Frisco transitioned into a residential "boomburb."

Between 1990 and 2000 alone, Frisco's population shot up over 600%. By 2010, it had surpassed 116,000 residents. Factors like quality schools and proximity to jobs in Plano and Dallas fueled massive migration to the suburb.

As it grew, Frisco successfully attracted major corporate offices and sports facilities. The Dallas Cowboys moved their headquarters and practice facilities to Frisco in the late 2000s, raising the city's profile.

Frisco Today

Modern Frisco has evolved into a large economic hub and affluent suburb. The population is quite diverse compared to the town's early years. Frisco residents work in a range of white collar professions.

The city contains attractions like the Frisco Heritage Museum and the Patios at the Rail District, honoring local history amidst recent growth. A vibrant retail and entertainment scene has emerged as well.

While one of America's fastest growing cities, Frisco has retained a small-town vibe through quality of life, sports culture, and civic pride. It continues balancing rapid development with preserving community identity.
