History

The area was first settled in the mid-1800s by Mormon pioneers attracted to the fertile land and streams. Early settlers dug irrigation canals and grew a variety of crops.

West Jordan was incorporated as a city in 1941. Growth accelerated in the late 1990s as the Salt Lake City metro expanded. Affordable homes and land attracted many new residents.

Today West Jordan provides easy access to Salt Lake City while maintaining its own unique heritage and identity.
