The city was created 66 years ago in 1959.
Palm Bay is a city situated on the Space Coast in Brevard County, Florida. With over 115,000 residents, it is the most populous city in the county.
History
The Palm Bay area was originally marshes and palmetto thickets until farmers drained the swamps in the early 1900s to expose rich soil.
After WWII, real estate developers targeted the area for affordable housing for returning veterans and new NASA workers. Palm Bay saw rapid growth as parts of Melbourne and unincorporated Brevard County were annexed.
Today, aerospace and high-tech continue driving the economy alongside influxes of new residents.

The proximity to NASA/Kennedy Space Center and Melbourne Airport has made aerospace and defense key industries.
