Jackson is a city in Michigan, the only one in Jackson County. It's located along Interstate 94 and U.S. Route 127, making it perfect for weekend getaways and day trips to visit friends or family. The city is also close to Ann Arbor and Lansing, which makes it easy to get around if you don't have a car or if you'd rather not drive yourself.

Jackson has a population of just over 32,000 people, but that number can swell during the summer months when people come here from nearby cities such as Detroit, Flint, Lansing and more for vacation. The city is known for its friendly atmosphere and its many parks and green spaces that make it easy to enjoy fresh air even when temperatures are high outside!

In 1822, Jackson County was organized by European Americans who had moved into Michigan Territory from Ohio and New York. It was named for Andrew Jackson (1767-1845), general in the War of 1812 and later President of the United States (1829-1837). The settlement that became Jackson was founded in 1823 by Zephaniah Kingsley who built a log cabin on what became known as Kingsley Lake (now Lakeland).

The city also offers residents a vibrant downtown area with many restaurants, shops and businesses that are easily accessible from Interstate 94 and U.S. Route 127 as well as several other major highways that pass through town including M-50 and M-99.

The unemployment rate in Jackson is 7%, which is higher than average for Michigan but still below what you might find elsewhere in the nation (currently around 8%).
