Dana Point is a city located in the county of Orange in the U.S. state of California. Its population at the 2010 census was 33,351. After 10 years in 2020 city had an estimated population of 33,436 inhabitants.
The city was created 37 years ago in 1988.
Dana Point is located in southern Orange County, California. It was named after author Richard Henry Dana, who wrote about the area in his 1840s book Two Years Before the Mast. Dana Point was formally established in 1989 when it incorporated as its own city, separating from San Juan Capistrano.
Harbor
Dana Point Harbor is a major landmark that was first constructed in the 1960s. It contains over 2,500 boat slips and is a popular recreation area. The harbor features shopping, dining, fishing, whale watching tours, and boat charters.
Geography
Dana Point is situated on a high coastal bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It spans around 7 miles of coastline. Dana Point Headlands Conservation Area protects the natural habitat and walking trails along the shore.
