The city was created 238 years ago in 1785.

Dearborn is located in southeastern Michigan, about 10 miles west of Detroit. It was incorporated as a village in 1893 and as a city in 1927.

The city's early growth was spurred by its proximity to Detroit and the auto industry. Henry Ford built factories there starting in the 1920s, helping establish Dearborn as an industrial and manufacturing hub. It remains the hometown of the Ford Motor Company today.
