The city was created 115 years ago in 1908.

Clovis is a city situated in Fresno County, California within the agriculturally rich San Joaquin Valley. With over 122,000 residents, it is the largest suburb of Fresno.


The city is named after Clovis Cole, who opened a lumber business there in the 1890s. The arrival of the railroad later spurred development.

Clovis was incorporated as a city in 1912. After WWII it became home to many veterans and new housing developments, transitioning into a bustling Fresno suburb.

Today Clovis retains its identity as a family-friendly community with a small-town atmosphere, while part of a major metro region.
