Atoka is a city located in the county of Tipton in the U.S. state of Tennessee. Its population at the 2010 census was 8,387 and a population density of 380 people per km². After 10 years in 2020 city had an estimated population of 9,732 inhabitants.

The city was created 157 years ago in 1866.

Atoka is a local government area with a town charter in Tipton County, Tennessee, United States. In 1888, Atoka was a stop on the Newport News & Mississippi Valley Railroad. Today the City of New Orleans Amtrak passenger train makes its daily route between New Orleans and Chicago, through Atoka. 

Atoka is located at 32°34'05" North, 88°43'06" West (32.563692, -88.725076). It is bordered by the Tennessee River on the east and by Tipton County on the north, west and south. The city is part of the Jackson metropolitan area along with Jackson and Madisonville

The climate in this area is characterized by hot, humid summers and generally mild to cool winters. According to the Köppen Climate Classification system, Atoka has a humid subtropical climate, abbreviated "Cfa" on climate maps.
