Though small in size, each city and town in Vilas County boasts its own character and identity. Some of the most notable communities include Eagle River, Lac du Flambeau, Minocqua, Woodruff, and St. Germain.

Eagle River serves as the county seat and provides easy access to excellent fishing on the chain of 28 lakes located throughout the area.
